What happens first? |
When you contact me to book a session, I will contact you to chat about who you are, and how YOU want to be seen in your photos. We will then work together to find a date and time that works for your session.

How do we choose a location? |
I have a number of trusted and safe locations to choose from in the Edmonton area, BUT I also love to discover new places. If you have a special spot that you love, we can most definitely do a little bit of exploring together.
Generally my locations are public park areas that have parking lots or parking very close by so that we can use all of our energy to get some amazing photos. You can also choose to do your session in my home studio, which never depends on the weather! |
What time of day is best? |
Generally speaking, I love Golden Hour (about 2 hours before sunset) for portrait sessions. Living in Alberta can pose some challenges with golden hour being around 10:00 at night at the peak of summer though! That being said, generally mornings or evenings are when the best light will be around for our photos. If you have a young family, I make sure to work around times when your littles will be at their happiest.
If you choose a studio session, it's really just a matter of finding the best time for your schedule. Generally I book sessions on Saturdays or Sundays for the most ease. |
What should you wear? |
My first rule is that you should wear something you feel great in. If the clothes don't make you feel awesome, it will show in your photos. It's great to coordinate your clothes with your family, while not matching exactly. Choosing a pallet of a few colours to use is a great idea. For example, in the Fall, mustard, burgandy and navy is a lovely combination of colours that you can mix throughout your pieces. I ask that you try to stay away from anything with logos or overpowering graphics, as it's YOU we want to focus on in your photos. If you have a little that just MUST wear their favourite Elmo shirt in order to not be a screaming mess though, just go with it :) Better to have a happy kid, than a miserable one.
I am always here to help when you are choosing your outfits as well. Send me your options and I can help narrow things down! |
COVID-19 |
If you or any member of your family feels ill or has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 please notify me as soon as possible and we will book a new time for your session at no extra cost.

On the day of the session |
For studio sessions, I ask that you arrive about 10 minutes early to get get settled and we can organize your outfit choices and any props to be used during your session. Studio sessions can tend to last a little bit longer to allow for changing of backgrounds and wardrobe changes, if desired.
If we are shooting on location, I like to show up about 10 minutes early to survey what's happening on that day. Some of the spots I use are also popular with other photographers, but I have never had an issue with sharing the past. I ask that you also try to be a few minutes early to help get everyone settled and jeuged. I will also introduce myself to your children (if you have them) and start to get them to relax a little bit and ready for a fun time. We will walk around and do photos for about 45 minutes. This is tonnes of time to get a variety of photos for you to choose from after your session. |
After your session |
It takes me about 2-3 weeks to edit your photos. I choose the best of the best (usually approximately 30-40 images), and then we meet either in person or via zoom for me to present your gallery to you. You choose how you want to display your images and for every product you purchase, those images are provided to you as a digital copy as well for display online or sharing with family, at no extra cost.
You choose what images you want to keep and how much you would like to spend, it's my job to make sure you love them all! |
